Bowker Motor Group Extends Partnership as New Driver Line Up Revealed

Tue 01 March 2022

Two Lancashire automotive retail businesses have extended their first partnership to support a North West-based pursuit of the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

Last year, Bowker Motor Group’s BMW centre in Blackburn became the official parts provider for the Car Gods with Ciceley Motorsport Race Team. Bowker BMW will also continue to support Ciceley Motorsport with a sponsored car for driver Adam Morgan.

Bowker and Ciceley have been pillars of the North West business community for over 100 years and almost 50 years respectively. Bowker Motor Group’s sister company Bowker Transport is a customer of Ciceley Commercials too.

Following an extensive pre-season testing programme for the Car Gods Ciceley Motorsport team, the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season will get underway at Donington Park on 23rd-24th April.

Bowker Motor Group director Chris Eccles said: “We loved being involved last year.  We are excited to be involved again. With the new line up, we can’t wait to see what the new season will bring. In George and Adam the team have a dynamic pairing that will give the team a chance of even more placings, podiums and success.”

The team has just revealed their line up for the coming season which, this year, includes BTCC support race front runner George Gamble. George will partner the team’s experienced campaigner Adam Morgan in their pair of Car Gods backed BMW 330e M Sport Saloons for his debut season in the Championship.

Last season was Ciceley Motorsport’s first season driving BMWs. Adam Morgan enjoyed two wins including a double podium at Oulton Park. After their first season driving BMWs, the team will hope to finish even higher than their 9th place in the team standings this season.

Russell Morgan, Team Owner, said: “George’s experience and winning pedigree is clear to see, and I am sure once he has acclimatised to the Championship he will be running at the sharp end. We are grateful to our partnership with Bowker Motor Group, who along with all our sponsors help to make us even more competitive and successful.”

New driver George Gamble said: “I am delighted to be joining the Car Gods with Ciceley Motorsport Team for this season. Having raced on the support race package for a long time now I have always aspired to be in the main race, but equally felt it was important to be with the right team and in the right car.”

“I am under no illusion that the racing will be a step up from what I am used to, the level in the Championship is so high and the racing so close, but I feel with the experience of the team and a quick driver in Adam as my teammate, I can have a solid first season and a good run at the Jack Sears Trophy title.”

Competing in his 11th season in BTCC, Adam Morgan is upbeat about the team’s prospects for the approaching campaign, adding: “It’s fantastic to have George join the team for this year, his pedigree in rear wheel drive machinery on the TOCA package is second to none, and after our first couple of meetings together he has fit straight into the team dynamic. With a learning year under our belts last season with the BMW’s, we are in a brilliant position to have a proper run at the title in 2022”.
