Bowker Preston EfficientDynamics Weekend helps Lancashire drivers lower CO2 emissions and save 6516 litres of fuel.

With vehicle fuel now costing well over £1 per litre, and rising, motorists in the Lancashire area were invited to BMW Dealer, Bowker at their Preston dealership to learn how a series of simple checks could both increase their vehicle’s fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.
Bowker was one of 142 BMW Dealerships nationally to take part in the BMW EfficientDynamics Open Weekend including the One Million Litre Challenge: BMW's aim is to achieve a combined annual saving of one million litres of fuel across the country.
Over 100 people visited on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June where BMW technicians carried out an Efficiency Check on 89 cars. Bowker managers then explained the results of the test and demonstrated how drivers could save money by acting upon their recommendations.
Paul Bowker, Chief Executive of the Bowker Motor Group explained: "Many drivers are unaware just how many miles to the gallon they are getting or how much CO2 their cars are emitting. By driving more fuel-efficient cars, motorists could not only save money on fuel, they could also lower their CO2 emissions which would help the environment and could result in paying less on road tax."
"If every driver we saw over the weekend takes our advice, they could collectively save 6,516 litres of fuel per year. This doesn’t just benefit drivers, it’s good news for the environment too."
All new BMW cars now benefit from EfficientDynamics, a range of technologies that improve vehicle performance, increase fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. For example, Brake Energy Regeneration charges the car battery from energy wasted when braking or coasting, and Auto Start-Stop cuts fuel consumption by switching the engine off when idling.
Paul Bowker added: "Many people are under the impression that if a car is enjoyable to drive it must be a gas-guzzler. However this weekend demonstrated that, thanks to BMW EfficientDynamics, class-leading performance and driving dynamics need not come at the expense of fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions."
