Threesy Meal Challenge for School Children

Two of Preston’s most celebrated food experts have launched a competition to discover a local chef of the future.

Longridge-based celebrated chef Paul Heathcote MBE and Dragons’ Den star Kirsty Henshaw from Preston have joined forces, for the first time, to challenge local school children to design a healthy meal or snack using just three ingredients.

The winner will cook their food alongside Paul Heathcote at Bowker BMW on the docks in Preston on Sunday February 12th as part of a weekend-long celebration event for the arrival of the new BMW 3 Series Saloon. The prize will also include a £100 Booths shopping and the loan of a BMW 3 Series Saloon for the weekend for parents or guardian.

Paul Heathcote said, “This is a simple fun competition to encourage and excite local youngsters about healthy food. We are blessed here in Lancashire with a plentiful supply of beautiful fresh local ingredients. I hope the challenge of finding just three of them will spark the imagination of the county’s talented young chefs.”

Kirsty added, “We don’t mind whether the food is a snack, savory or desert. We just want young cooks to enjoy making healthy food. And, of course, we want to enjoy eating it too!”

Kirsty and Paul will both be appearing at the Ultimate Performance Event at Bowker BMW to celebrate the launch of the new BMW 3 Series Saloon on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February.

At the event, Paul Heathcote will be rising to the three-ingredient meal challenge too. He’ll reveal and cook a new 3-series inspired menu in a interactive cookery demonstrations. All meals will use the finest Lancashire-ingredients supplied by Booths supermarkets.

Paul and Kirsty have produced a video to inspire young chefs and offer some advice on healthy food preparation.  Entries can be delivered to the dealership on one side of an A4 sheet of paper and include brief description and an illustration.

Entries can also be sent by email to amy.uphill@bowkermail.com no later than Thursday 9th February. The winning entrant should be available to receive their prize with Paul Heathcote at 2pm on Sunday 12th February.
